Special Limited Edition, first issue in this format. Size: 8vo – over 7¾” – 9¾” tall. 2-volume set (complete). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. This is the Publisher’s copy of this limited edition of 350 copies. Vellum and light blue paper over boards, paper spine label, deckle edges, uncut, Large Paper Edition, frontispiece, Vol. I: 455 pages; Vol. II: 482 pages. These volumes were part of the Houghton library and were in a fire; while they do not smell of smoke, there are some soot stains on end papers of Vol. I, soot residue on the back cover of both volumes, fore edges, and light residue on front covers and spines. Interior is generally clean, but volume I has some pages with soot residue in blank margins. Other than the soot residue, these volumes are in near fine condition.
