Description: Hungarian pianist György Sándor (1912-2005) enthusiastically inscribed and signed this album page: “To Della – very best wishes from György Sándor”.

György Sándor studied at the Liszt Academy in Budapest under Béla Bartók and Zoltán Kodály, and debuted as a performer in 1930. He toured throughout the 1930s as a concert pianist and made his Carnegie Hall debut in 1939. He became an American citizen and served in the US Army during WWII, returning to the stage once the war concluded. Sandor went on to teach at various schools, including: University of Michigan and Julliard, and continued to perform until the end of his life.

The signed 4″ x 5″ piece of yellow paper is glued onto a 4 1/2″ x 6″ autograph album page. Inked identification in another hand at bottom right corner. Item# A01698
