Description: This wonderful hand-colored engraving is a bird’s-eye view of the Netherlands city of Vlissingen. Though unsigned, we believe it is from Atlas de Wit c. 1698. The verso has descriptive text in Latin.
Frederik de Wit (1629-1706) was a prominent Dutch cartographer and publisher. His Atlas de Wit used plates from other Amsterdam map publishers, e.g. Hondius, Bleau, Vissher, etc., as well as his own.

Condition: Short marginal splits at fold line (old tape “repair” on verso), a few spots in the blank margins, generally very good with strong colors.
