Description: English-born American artist William J. Linton (1812-1897) wrote this brief letter in which he requests that “Anthony” “get me the enclosed to-day… (in greenbacks, please) with your subscriptions. I will look in for it in the course of the afternoon — or may I find you at the home in the evening… There is still a something to do to the Castle Cut — if you will send it down with proof.”
William J. Linton is known for his many wood engravings and landscape paintings, as well as, his political activism and poetry. He was a member of the National Academy of Design and The Society of Painters in Water Colors.
