Description: Author of Upstate New York history books like Mohawk Valley: Its Legends and Its History and The Story of Old Fort Johnson, W. Max Reid (1839-1911) has penned this letter to a Mr. Flint who seemingly asked a genealogical question.

The letter reads in part: “I can give you no information in regard to Robert Flint. In regard to the name of Winne I would say that in ‘The History of the Schenectady Patent’ by Prof Pearson on page 110 I find the following: ‘Jillis Fonda, had a son Jillis who married Rachel, daughter of Pieter Winne of Albany Dec 11 1695 and about 1700 removed to Schenectady. etc.”

Written on a 10 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ sheet of “W. Max Reid, Amsterdam, N. Y.” imprinted stationery. Item #A01843
