Richard A. Proctor (1837-1888)  was an English astronomer, best remembered for producing the earliest maps of Mars in 1867 from the observer William Rutter Dawe’s drawings. He wrote 57 books, 500 essays and 83 scientific papers on astronomy. His later work took a skeptical view towards religious and theological questions.

Condition: The quotation is slightly faint, but legible. Some tiny ink marks in the lower blank space. Generally good condition.
