Description: American explorer Donald B. MacMillan (1874-1970) boldly signed, in blue ink, the back of this snapshot of a schooner.
During his nearly five decade-long career, MacMillan made over 30 expeditions to the Arctic where he pioneered the use of radios, airplanes, and electricity in the area. He documented his visits with photographs and film, and even compiled a dictionary of the Inuktitut language.
