Description: Abstract Expressionist Pousette-Dart was a regular exhibitor at the Andrew Crispo Gallery (NYC) during the late 1970’s. He received payment for the sale of his painting “White Presence to My Father” on Dec. 20, 1978… for which he netted $5,400.00. Both Pousette-Dart and Andrew Crispo signed the receipt. Interestingly, Christie’s resold this painting at auction on Nov. 10, 2023 for $151,200.00.
The typed letter signed is on an 11″ x 8 1/2″ sheet of Andrew Crispo Gallery stationery. Item #A02001
Richard Pousette-Dart (1916-1992), painter, sculptor, photographer, is integrally associated with the Abstract Expressionist movement and considered a founder of the New York School of painting. There have been major retrospectives of his works at many major art institutions, including: The Whitney Museum of American Art, Solomon R. Guggenheim, etc.
Condition: Two typed receipts (one signed) in very good condition save a small dampstain lower right blank margin of the larger sheet.
