Description: This gorgeous, rich photograph shows the skyline of New York City with the twin towers dominating. It’s a stormy day with the cruise ship Queen Elizabeth II plying the waters.

Signed in graphite on the mat, as well as in the photograph. It is noted on the photo’s white margin that it was “printed Dec. 1985″.

George Forss (1941-2021) was selling his photos on the streets of New York City in the seventies before renowned photojournalist David Douglas Duncan “discovered” him in 1980. Duncan produced a book of Forss’ photographs, New York/New York: Masterworks of a Street Peddler, in 1984 which led to Forss being represented by Park Slope Gallery and a one-man exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum.
