Description

Description: During the first half of the 20th century John E. Boos of Albany, NY contacted thousands of people who lived through the Civil War, had encounters with Abraham Lincoln, or had an interest in Lincoln. He asked that they write down their memories, or, in some cases, he sent them the text of the Gettysburg Address asking them to sign it and comment. We offer one such printed address which Henry Cabot Lodge has signed and written in his hand: “We can be confident about the future of the United States so long as we are inspired by Lincoln’s genius and take Lincoln’s advice to ‘Think anew and act anew.'”

Henry Cabot Lodge (1902-1985), politician/diplomat, was a U.S. Senator and served as Ambassador to West Germany, South Vietnam, and the United Nations, and was a presidential hopeful in 1964.

Printed and written on a 9″ x 6 1/4″ sheet of paper. Item #A02017

Condition: Mailing fold line, otherwise very good.
