Description: James Barr sent John Pitcherale a Christmas and New Year greeting card in which he wrote a short note: “So nice . . .  to hear you enjoyed my last effort …” and apologized for not having a photograph to send. Signed “Lots of Luck– James Barr”

James [Barr] Fugate (1922-1995) is the author of the classic work of gay writing, Quatrefoil: A Modern Novel, and was an activist in the gay rights movement. He was honorably discharged in 1952 when his identity as the author of Quatrefoil became public.

John (Giovanni) P. Pitcherale (1919?-1998) was a friend of The Boston Symphony Orchestra.  He is also listed as one of the principal correspondents in The Papers of Eleanor Roosevelt.
