Description: This Zino Francescatti and Vladimir Padwa autographed 4-page program of the 46th Season of the Chromatic Concerts, Inc, of Troy, NY, presents Zino Francescatti, the famed violinist, at the Troy Music Hall on November 17, 1942.
Zino Francescatti (1902-1991) was a French virtuoso violinist. He began performing at the age of five and made his debut at age 10, playing Beethoven’s Violin Concerto. He taught at the École Normale de Musique. His American debut was with Sir John Barbirolli and the New York Philharmonic in 1939, playing Paganini’s Violin Concerto No. 1. He has been called “the prince of virtuoso,” “another Paganini” and “the Horowitz of the violin.”
Vladimir Padwa (1900-1981) was an American pianist and composer. He was a professor of music at New York College of Music and New York University and a member of the American Society of Composers and Publishers.
