Description: Eleanor Roosevelt (1884-1962) boldly signed this White House card.
Roosevelt was the First Lady of the United States (1933-1945) during her husband’s, Franklin D. Roosevelt, four terms of office as President. She was an outspoken and active First Lady, advocating for civil rights, an expansion of women’s roles in the workplace, and the rights of WWII refugees. After her husband’s death, Roosevelt remained active in politics, becoming the first U.S. delegate to the United Nations and served as the First Chair of the Presidential Commission on the Status of Women under JFK.
2 3/4″ x 4 1/4″. Includes original transmittal envelope imprinted: “The White House Official Business”. The envelope has a circular Washington D.C. postal stamp dated April 21, 1937. Item #A01700
Condition: Mounting remnants on verso and the top edge of recto. Generally good condition with a large, clear signature.
