Description: Canadian-American writer and artist Will James (1892-1942) signed this kind typed letter to a Mr. Hart which reads: “Dear Mr. Hart: Thanks for sending me the clipping of the boy from Little Rock. I wrote him a letter a few days ago. If I remember right there was something you wanted me to do before I left the ranch. I dont think I even answered your letter, and I’m sorry for that. I was so busy right then that I couldn’t take care of half of what I had to do. I’m still pretty well in the same fix. In the packing I think I left your letter at the ranch, and if it aint too late I’d like to have you tell me again what it was you asked me to do and I’ll do my best to do it.” An added postscript reads: “P.S. I sent Whitney Darrow a clipping of a writeup I had down here, Most likely Whitney will show it to you, and maybe there’s something in it that you can use.”
James is best remembered for his “cowboy” stories for both children and adults and his art which also featured the American West.
