Description

Description: This original, c. 1932, photograph depicts the Lyon Block Marketplace in Albany, New York. Dozens of people mill around the parked cars and trucks, piles of merchandise in trunks and around the vehicles.

The Lyon Block building was put up in 1891 by the J.B. Lyon Printing Company near Hudson, Beaver, and Daniels Streets and stood until the 1960’s when it was razed to make room for the Empire State Plaza. 

The photo measures 7 ¾” x 9 ⅞” and has been adhered to a slightly larger piece of cardstock. 

An inked note on the verso indicates this picture of “MKT SQ.” was taken in 1932. Item #P00300

Condition:  Very good condition with excellent contrast and resolution.
