Description: In this typed letter signed, Byrd writes in part: “Please remember me to your boy when he gets old enough to know something of Antarctica… I am still on lecture tour… when I return I expect to retire with my family, whom I have seen but little during the past three or four years.”
Written on an 11″ x 8 1/2″ sheet of stationery imprinted: “9 Brimmer Street Boston, Massachusetts”. Item #A01436
Richard E. Byrd (1888-1957), American Naval officer and explorer, was awarded the Medal of Honor in 1927. From 1928 to 1930 Byrd was on his first Antarctic expedition.
Condition: Mounting glue residue on verso with some light bleed through to the recto, light soil, mailing folds, otherwise good condition.
