Description
Description: We offer a print by the French artist Edouard Benedictus, image size is 14 3/8″ x 11″ on 18 5/8″ x 14 5/8″ heavy wove ivory paper. Three motifs are presented in an oxblood background: a Picesian composition over two smaller patterns one of interlocking birds and one geometric abstraction. At the bottom of the image it is inscribed ‘Benedictus “Relais” -1’. Bold and graphic from a distance, with wonderful saturation and a bespoke, handmade quality when viewed closely. Item #PR00117.
Édouard Benedictus (1878 -1930) was a painter, writer, composer, chemist and inventor. As as designer he was known for his floral Art Deco textiles patterns, he is widely remembered as the inventor of bullet proof glass.
Condition: The two upper corners are dented, there is some light surface dirt at the margins, otherwise very good.
