Description: American actor William H. Crane (1845-1928) boldly signed and inscribed this genial portrait photograph to the Charlotte Cushman Club in 1918. Crane found success on the stage in such works as Evangeline, The Comedy of Errors, Bronson Howard’s The Henrietta, David Harum, and Business is Business.
The Charlotte Cushman Club was a Philadelphia-based philanthropic organization that provided safe and affordable housing for touring actresses.
