Description: On Feb 9, J. M. Barrie wrote a crisp note to Heggie (who appeared in Barrie’s short play, The Dramatists Get What They Want, and took the lead in Androcles and The Lion):
“Dear Mr. Heggie
Thank you for letters. But this chairman had better not make you as my one in particular.
Yours Sincerely/ J. M. Barrie”
Autograph letter signed written on 7” x 5 ½” ivory stationery imprinted: “3, Adelphi Terrace House, Strand W. C.”

Sir James Matthew Barrie (1860-1937) was a British playwright and novelist, best remembered as the creator of Peter Pan. He was made a Baronet by King George in 1913 and a member of the Order of Merit in 1922. He left all the rights to Peter Pan to the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.
Oliver Peters Heggie (1877-1936), an Australian theater and film actor, began in amateur theater productions in Sydney and London. He gained prominence on Broadway (NYC), playing the lead in Androcles and The Lion, Old Man Minick in Minick, Shylock in The Merchant of Venice, Diggory in She Stoops to Conquer and others. He moved to Hollywood in 1928 and appeared in 27 films, including: The Count of Monte Cristo, The Mysterious Dr. Fu Manchu, etc.
