Description: In a touching moment in 1903, while on an Oregon tour, President Roosevelt ordered his carriage stopped so he could comfort a five-year-old girl (Constance Kantner) lying on a carriage. She was to undergo surgery to cure a spinal issue. After having communicated with the girl’s father several weeks later, he sent a letter to her writing:

 “My dear little friend:

I thank you so much for your letter. I shall always remember you. I send you my photograph.

With all good wishes, I am,

Faithfully Yours,”

Signed “Theodore Roosevelt.”

The typed letter signed is on  “White House, Washington” letterhead and dated December 19, 1903. It is framed with the dust jacket image of Michael Blake’s book about Roosevelt…Go West Mr. President, and page 167 that discusses the above incident and specifically mentions this letter. The letter and the two other items are double matted and framed in gilded wood to: 15” x 27”. Item #A01881
