Written and signed  on 7 ¼” x 4 ¾  ivory paper with an oval House of Commons embossed seal, bearing a crown and the motto “Honi soit qui mal y pense (shamed be the person who thinks of evil).” Item #A02091

Frederic William Farrar (1831-1903) was the Archdeacon of Westminster (1883-94) and Dean of Canterbury (1894-1903), a classics scholar, a philologist and a prolific writer. He was one of the pallbearers for Charles Darwin.
