Description: Architect Gilbert Bostwick Croff penned and signed this brief letter dated February 5, 1873 which accompanied a five dollar payment he asks a Mr. Filley[?] to “please receipt and return.”

G. B. Croff (1841-1909) designed and built several commercial and residential buildings in the Second Empire style in Saratoga Springs, NY and the surrounding area. He put out several books on design and later moved to Canada and formed a partnership with Frederick Theodore Camp.

Written on an 8 1/8″ x 5 1/4″sheet of Croff’s personal stationery imprinted with an image of a building identified as the North Granville Ladies’ Seminary. Item #A01793

Condition: Mailing fold lines, otherwise very good condition with a bold signature.
