Description: Pianist and composer James M. Wehli wrote this musical quotation in Boston on 16 March 1865, signing it "Yours truly James M Wehli".  Written on a 5 3/8" x 4 5/8" slip of paper.

There is little information available about Wehli, other than he often wrote music for the left hand only, the most famous being two versions of "Home, Sweet Home". The 1870 version published by Ditson was a "straight" transcription, while the 1907 version published by Presser differs entirely being a virtuoso treatment of great difficulty and one that Wehli used in his own recitals. This latter was described as one of "grand exhibitionism . . . Wehli pulled out all the stops and tricks." Item #A00356.

Condition: Paper is a little age toned around edges, bleed-through from writing on verso of this page from an autograph album; otherwise very good.
