Description: This 188 page account book spans several years and contains short entries specifying the jobs, purchases, and sales this anonymous tinsmith completed for various clients who are listed as debtors (Dr) and creditors (Cr). The jobs included mending boilers, washbowls, coffee pots, and tea kettles, repairing drums and  stove tops, fixing pipes, soldering cans, etc. as well as selling and purchasing provisions and hardware (“3 pans bottomed”, “mending sap pan”, “1 nigger hoe”, “2 ½ lbs. nail rod”). Names of clients include: Learned, Lybrand, Dary, Parfrey, Weigley, Nazro, Hazeltine, Basey, Neff, and many others. Paper patterns of cross-stitch and crochet have been pasted on entries on pages 124 through 137 at a later date. Household recipes for indigestion, colds, consumption, hay fever, and various recipes of salves and oils are handwritten or pasted on page 194 and pages 230-236.

Condition: Front and rear boards are quite worn. Head and foot of spine are missing. Scattered light stains and spots, but the writing is legible and clear.
