Description: Having retired from the military during the early stages of the Civil War, the 77 year old Scott states in this letter: “I have duly received the box you kindly sent me containing a great number of toilette articles besides shaving soap — enough to last beyond the short remainder of my life.” He died three years later at age 80 having served in the War of 1812, the Mexican War, and been a presidential candidate in 1852.

This two-page autograph letter signed is written on a 7″ x 9″ piece of stationery folded. Item #A01356

Condition: Sliver of hinging tape at top interior, fold lines with 1/4″ separation at edges reinforced with archival tissue/tape. Generally good condition.
