Clayton (1796-1856) served as Secretary of State during Zachary Taylor’s brief term as President (1849-1850). He also served as a U.S. Senator from Delaware both before and after his work as Secretary of State (1829-1836, 1845-1849, 1853-1856).

Condition: Fold lines, light perimeter toning, otherwise very good condition with a neat, dark signature.
