Description: American General of the Armies John J. Pershing (1860-1948) boldly signed this 2 7/8″ x 4 1/4″ piece of paper.

Pershing is best remembered for serving as the commander of the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) on the Western Front in World War I from 1917 to 1918. He is the only American to be promoted in his own lifetime to the rank of General of the Armies, the highest possible rank in the United States Army. After his victory with the AEF during the first World War, Pershing acted as a mentor to several WWII army generals, including George Marshall, Dwight D. Eisenhower, George S. Patton, and Douglas MacArthur.
