Description: This group of three original 3 1/2″ x 10″ photographs depict race cars which vied for land speed records in 1928/1929. One shows Frank Lockhart in his Stutz Black Hawk Special. On April 28th, 1928 Lockhart lost control of his vehicle which was destroyed and he lost his life. Another shows Sir Malcolm Campbell’s Napier-Campbell “Blue Bird” being prepped for a race. The last is of the Triplex by White which was in a fatal crash at Daytona on March 13, 1929.

Condition: All have bumped corners, perimeter light soil, and writing and soil on verso (one has postcard stampings). Two have indentations outlining the vehicles done with some sort of stylus (only visible when light is raked across them).
