Size: Octavo (standard book size). 12 volumes of the 14-volume set. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. The first twelve volumes of the fourteen volume set. All bound in gilt-stamped blue cloth, each with a paper spine label with a handwritten range of dates corresponding to the date of the writings within. … This is a compiled set, the first four volumes were donated to the Port Chester, NY Public Library by George A. Slater (1867-1937), a New York lawyer and the first New York State Assemblyman to make a speech advocating for Women’s Suffrage (1912). The first four volumes have ink stamps in several places indicating Slater donated the books. Books have bumped and worn corners and spine ends, rubbed covers, some loose hinges, tape repairs on ripped pages, the first few volumes are in the worst shape of the set, though overall the books are still in good condition.
