Size: Rectangular 16mo. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. Previous owner’s name in pencil on front free end paper. No date, but circa 1875 or earlier as there is a previous owner inscription dated 1875. Original maroon cloth with paste on lithograph, gilt title above, "The Falls of Niagara" and gilt title below "Thomas Nelson and Son New York"; 40 pages of text plus 12 excellent lithographs (one side of page only) of various views of the Falls, including one of the railroad suspension bridge with a train heading across. Corners & spine ends bumped with a bit of fraying, lithograph on front cover is scratched and gilt titles faded and hard to read; text block pulling away from covers with both front and rear hinges cracked, but still attached and text block binding is sound.
