Description: Neoclassical sculptor, Erastus Dow Palmer (1817-1904), worked much of his adult life in Albany, NY. The subject of this albumen photograph is his marble sculpture "Angel at the Sepulchre" which is one of ten monuments Palmer created for the Albany Rural Cemetery. Other significant works reside at the U.S. Capitol (bronze of Robert Livingston) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art ("The White Captive").

This 3 1/4" x 2 1/4" photo is adhered to a 7" x 5" piece of cardstock and boldly signed on the mount: "E.D. Palmer". Item #A00655.

Condition: Mount shows some toning and glue residue from old mat. A new mat has visually "corrected" these flaws.
