Description

Description: Soviet ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev (1938-1993) boldly signed this half-tone image with a flourish that mimics the sweep of his arm as he dances in “Diana and Acteon”.
Nureyev is remembered for his boundary-breaking choreography which interleaved classical ballet with modern dance, and for expanding the role of male ballet dancers, whose former key function was to support the women.
The image, reproduced from a Martha Swope photograph, is printed on paper that measures 9” x 6”. Item #A00554.
Condition: Light toning on bottom edge, not affecting image, otherwise in fine condition.
