Description: An unusual 6 3/4" x 9 1/4" black-and-white photograph of David "Mickey" Marcus, the U.S. Army colonel who assisted Israel during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War and became Israel’s first General, shown here exuberantly swinging a baseball bat at a ball. Taken one month after the start of the war, a notation on verso indicates that it was used in a publication on June 20, 1948. Verso has the Robert Capa/Magnum stamp. In 1947 Capa co-founded Magnum Photos with, among others, the French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson. Item # P00063.

Condition: A three-quarter inch scratch lower left, light toning on the left margin and several spots from, apparently, dust on the negative, otherwise good.
