Description: This broadside apparently accompanied a model of the proposed Sixth Ave. Railroad. The rail line was approved in 1851 and opened for service at the end of 1852.

An attractive border surrounds a lengthy text touting all the virtues of this new railroad.

The Sixth Avenue Railroad Company proposes to lay a track that presents no obstruction to the passage of the usual vehicles of travel and will run "small, light and comfortably furnished horse cars, night and day… from the lower to the upper part of the city…"

"…fares…will be five cents for any distance below Forty-second Street; eight cents to Bloomingdale and ten cents to Manhattanville and Harlem…"
