Description: We offer an original early 20th century photograph of the Royal Palm Hotel in Miami, Florida. The grandiose hotel opened in 1897 and boasted five stories with a sixth floor salon and 450 rooms. The Royal Palm possessed Miami’s first electric lights, elevators, and swimming pool. The hotel was severely damaged during the 1926 hurricane and was ultimately torn down in 1930. This image shows the impressive facade of the immense building  with palm trees gracing the front lawn and two small, wooden boats gliding through the water in the foreground.

Photo measures approximately 7 1/2″ x 9 3/8″ and is signed in the negative at the lower left: Photo by Chamberlain Cottage City, Mass.” Mount measures: 10″ x 12″. Verso has pencil identification and a faded backmark for “Royal Palm Studio Miami, FLA Chamberlain Artist”. Item #P00186

Condition: Photo has several stray marks in the sky. Generally very good condition.
