Description: This well-executed oil on chamfered panel depicts several tulips in a wonderful Victorian ceramic vase. The painting is unsigned on the recto, but written in pencil on the verso is: “Evalina Mount.”

Evelina “Nina” Mount (1837-1920) was born and spent most of her active years in Stony Brook, NY. She was part of an artistic family, with her uncle William Sydney Mount perhaps the most famous. She is most known for her landscapes and floral still-lifes. The Long Island Museum of American Art has the largest holding of her work.
