Description

Description: Just after Ronald Reagan’s election as Governor of California, Nancy Reagan (1921-2016) wrote this friendly note to her friend and former classmate at Smith College, Mrs. John Bromley Moses, affectionately addressed as “Eeyore”, about her imminent “new life” as First Lady of California. She writes, “We’re elated about the election of course but I’m spinning because there’s so much to do…”
Nancy Reagan was First Lady of California from 1967 to 1975, and then became First Lady of the United States in 1981 when Ronald Reagan was elected President. Reagan championed the “Just Say No” drug awareness campaign, and was often compared to former First Lady, Jaqueline Kennedy Onassis, because of her similarly glamorous presence.
Written on a piece of “NDR” monogrammed folded stationery measuring 7 3/8” x 5 ¼”. Item #A00525.
Condition: Pencil notation on monogrammed flap of stationery, otherwise very good. Comes with transmittal envelope addressed in Nancy’s hand.
