Description: We offer an excellent modern Mexican retablo by Rafael Rodriguez Contraras. The painting is approximately 9 ½” x 12″ on tin, it is signed with the artist’s monogram at the lower right. It depicts a woman in exaltation before her dairy cow with a floating monk in the upper left. The text identifies the woman as Carlota Figeroa and her productive “vaquita” (little cow) who gives her 20 liters of milk a day. The painting is dated May 16, 1939 but likely made later in the 20th c. Item #FA00229.
