Description: We offer a charming 19th c. watercolor on paper of a young man with a pitcher under one arm set against a landscape with rail fence and a faint silhouette of a city in the distance. It is signed "G[iuseppe] Fortunati Roma" lower right.
We could find little biographical information about Fortunati, though his very competent watercolors appear at auction and in gallery holdings on a regular basis.
Watercolor measures 21 3/4" x 15" and is laid onto slightly larger early pasteboard with remnants of labels from "James Vint & Son Art Store 34 No. Pearl St. Albany, NY" on verso. Item #FA00213
Condition: Light toning around perimeter, otherwise very good.
