This 1850 chapbook makes an early mention of baseball: There are a great number of games played with Balls, of which Base-Ball, Trap-Ball, Cricket, Up-Ball, Catch-Ball, and Drive Ball, are the most common. It features an in-text illustration of children playing baseball, as well as, a full-page engraving titled: A Party of Ball Players.
