Description: This striking oil painting on cardboard portrays a lone horse with a bowed head, a rider-less buggy and a leaf-less tree… desolate under a windswept sky.

It is dated at the lower left and initialled at the lower right: “G. D.” Sight size: 13 1/2″ x 19 1/2″ in original frame to: 21″ x 27″. Item #FA00361

Gershon Davidowicz (1914-1988) was born in Poland, studied at the Berlin State Academy of Art and was one of the founders of Ein Hod Artists’ Village in Israel (with Marcel Janco and others). He won the Dizengoff Prize for painting in 1964 along with Reuven Rubin.

Condition: Very good in its original frame, still sealed in the back.
