Size: 9 1/4″ x 7 1/4″. Text is in Latin. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Professionally restored with repairs made to spine, new end papers, pages re-sewn and new raised bands. Bound in vellum, contemporary ink with author’s name on spine, engraved frontispiece showing Hercules fighting the Hydra, 613 pages plus 41-page Index, text in Latin. Hoefer was a Bavarian physician in the 17th century and is known for his early description of cretinism. Covers are stained, light scattered foxing/staining throughout, a few instances of small holes/tears, as well as some light pencil notes in the margins. Housed in a modern slipcase that has a postmarked mailing label and a typed sheet with information on the book pasted on one side. Slipcase is worn and stained. Quantity Available: 1.
