Description: Polish-born Jewish writer Isaac Bashevis Singer (1902-1991) wrote and signed this brief note in 1967 thanking his “dear friends” Mr. and Mrs. Alan Lansert for their kind letter. He writes, “It is good to know that I have such devoted readers. Please accept my thanks and good wishes.”
Isaac Bashevis Singer was a leading figure of the Yiddish literary movement, only writing and publishing in Yiddish. His short story, “Yentl, the Yeshiva Boy”, was adapted into the film Yentl (1983)starring Barbra Streisand. Singer was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1978.
Written on stationery imprinted with the logo of the Oberlin Inn in Oberlin, Ohio. Matted to 6 ¾” x 5 ¼” in an 11 ¼” x 16 ¾” frame. Framed with a photograph of Singer. #A00909.
