Description: Raymond Berry was the Baltimore Colts split end from 1955-1967. He later became head coach of the New England Patriots. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1973. In this autograph letter signed he writes in part: “…thanks for the compliment about my coaching in New England. The secret to being a successful coach is to get great players, a great QB (hopefully 2 of ’em) and keep everybody healthy. It also is key to keep things basic, sound, and simple. When you have all that you can be coach of the year!” He ends the letter, in keeping with his self-professed born again Christian status, “The Apostle Paul wrote a line once: ‘I only want to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus assigned to me.’ May God give you grace to carry out your assignment. In His name–“.
