Description: Grace Coolidge wrote the poem “The Open Door” in 1929 on the fifth anniversary of her sixteen year-old son’s death. She has signed this manuscript transcription of the poem, which is not written in her hand, near the bottom of the 6 5/8″ x 4″ piece of paper.
Grace Coolidge (1879-1957) was the wife of Calvin Coolidge, the 30th President of the United States (1923-1929), and is remembered for her work on behalf of the deaf, her support of the Red Cross, civil defense, and scrap drives during WWII.

Condition: Fold line, the poem is still attached to a trimmed portion of one of those ubiquitous non-slip photo album pages which has left striped discoloration. Generally good condition with a clear, bold signature.
