Description: First Lady of the United States Grace Coolidge (1879-1957) neatly penned and signed this friendly letter to Mrs. Davis [Jean Rodenbaugh], the wife of Secretary of Labor James J. Davis, on a White House card on April 17, 1927. The letter reads: “Dear Mrs. Davis: We think Caerphilly cheese is delicious and thank you for sharing with us- I am going to take you up and stop in and see you and your cellotex[sic] room- With my love Grace Coolidge April 17, 1927”. Celotex is an English fiberboard insulation company that was founded in the early 1920’s.

Grace Coolidge was the wife of Calvin Coolidge, the 30th President of the United States (1923-1929), and is remembered for her work on behalf of the deaf, her support of the Red Cross, civil defense, and scrap drives during WWII.

Written on two sides of a thick 4 ¼” x 5 ¼” White House card embossed with gold lettering and an American eagle. Item #A01279

Condition: A few faint spots of soil around the edges, overall very good condition with a neat, bold signature.
