Description: This wonderful waist-up portrait of General Augur in uniform is a period CDV-size albumen photo tipped to an album page. Augur has signed: “C. C. Augur Maj. Genl. USA” beneath it.

Christopher Columbus Augur (1821-1848) held a number of commands during the Civil War. He notably was at the Petersen House where the mortally wounded President, Abraham Lincoln, was taken. He mobilized troops to track John Wilkes Booth and the co-conspirators.
