Description: This colorful and dramatic aquatint etching of the New York City skyline features the skyscrapers set against the backdrop of a turbulent sky. Smoke from the tugboat and tanker in the foreground add to the movement.
It is signed in graphite lower right: “Nat Lowell”. Platemark: 14″ x 10 1/4″ . Printed on a sheet of heavy stock paper which measures: 16″ x 12″. Item #PR00456
Nat Lowell (1880-1956) studied at the Art Students League with Gutzon Borglum, and Carroll Beckwith. His works are in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Library of Congress, New York Public Library, New York Historical Society, etc.
Condition: Lightly toned, otherwise very good.
