Description: This spectacular original broadside has a wide border of grapevines and a host of charming cuts including the squash vine destroyer, Buckminster’s corn planter, Buckminster’s horse rake, etc. Text in part states: “…One page is devoted to Farming and the Mechanic Arts. Another page is filled with select matter from the best writers, — calculated for the young of both sexes. A third page contains the News of the week, foreign and domestic; the Proceedings of Congress and our State Legislature; the Laws of the State, and a full Price Current, corrected weekly… Paper is edited by Wm. Buckminster, an experienced practical Farmer, of Framingham, near Boston. The Ploughman was commenced in October, 1841, and it has already a much larger circulation than all other agricultural papers in Boston.”
