Description: In this rich strike Osborne has captured the gothic architectural complexities and subtleties of Avignon, France. He has signed in graphite lower right and, in another hand, at the bottom left is written: “City of Avignon Orig. etching by Malcolm Osborne”.
Malcolm Osborne (1880-1963) is known for just this sort of finely wrought landscape/urban view. He was a full member of the Royal Academy and President of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers.
Plate mark: 9″ x 18″ on a sheet which measures: 13 1/2″ x 21 3/4″. Item #PR00426
Condition: Toned around perimeter, mounting remnants on verso, generally good condition.
